Leaders want to “manage it by measuring it” and yet if they do not create metric systems that helps them to separate signals from noise they can end up driving time-wasting activities and creating frustrating fire-fighting scrambles on false alarms.

A very effective and succinct explanation that begins with “How big of difference do we need to see before we can say it is not simply due to chance?”… and then goes on to discuss significance versus practicality, and then even explores further the topic of practicality.
